Hello hello... my name is Rives Wiley and I am the founder of The Rokokos. The Rokokos is a painting commission business that works with commercial and residential clients in New York City, Washington DC, and Miami. I am the creator of the projects, however, I often work with a myriad of talented friends, assistants, and collaborators- my fellow "Rokokos." We are experts in murals, portraiture, sets, signs, and image design.

"Rokoko" is a reference to the18th century French artistic movement, Rococo. The style is known for being playful, classically painted, and slightly over the top. So much so that it couldn't be contained by the edge of the canvas. From 1730-1760, Rococo painting  danced across castle ceilings, love seats, and  even lived inside the hearts of women's lockets, inspiring our eye portraits.

Rococo exemplifies the beauty found when painting and design work together. An image can be both lighthearted and masterfully painted. These ideas guide each of our custom projects.

While some of the painting on this site pays homage to the swirls, curves, and naturalism of Rococo, versatility is at the forefront. The Rokokos execute the client's vision in an imaginative and creative way.

And who exactly is Rives??  Rives is an artist working in New York City and Washington DC. She graduated from The Rhode Island School of Design in 2013, was a Hamiltonian Fellow, and has been creating murals since 2018. Her personal and commercial work has been featured in publications such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Hyperallergic, The Huffington Post, The Washington Post, and Vice. Occasionally, you may find her painting wax celebrities at Madame Tussauds or singing Led Zeppelin at the nearest Karaoke bar.
